The Castelo Branco School of Applied Arts was created (and integrated into the Castelo Branco Polytechnic Institute) by Decree-Law no. 264/99 of July 14. In the 1999/2000 academic year, the bachelor's degrees in Image Arts and Music (instrument variant) came into operation, formalized by Ministerial Order no. 505/99 of 15 July. Teaching activities first took place at Castelo Branco's Cine-Teatro Avenida and later at the campus of the Escola Superior Agrária. Its educational offer has changed substantially, not only through the creation of bachelor's and master's degrees, but also by extending the educational offer to new areas. As a result of the Bologna process, the courses have undergone important changes, both in their curricular structure and in the practical implementation of these modifications. The 2014/2015 academic year was a milestone in the life of the institution, as ESART moved to new premises on the Talagueira campus. ESART's educational offer encompasses the areas of Design and Music, offering a CTeSP, four bachelor's degrees and five master's degrees. ESART has a short history, marked by those who have passed through and those who work here every day. We have sought to grow in quality, in order to offer high-level learning and teaching experiences in a creative and welcoming environment. History is made above all by training people who acquire the necessary resources and skills in an ever-changing professional world.
